Where does the political power of an artistic object lie? How can we turn our cultural ties and differences into an accelerator for change? Developed in 2018 (premiere in 2019) for and with Cherish Menzo, a Dutch Surinamese performer-choreographer, Sorry, but I Feel Slightly Disidentified strikes at the ills that weaken our societies: prejudices about race and gender, social status and cultures. The first in a trilogy about the stereotypes and limitations (physical or imaginary) that hinder our bodies, this total work paints a glorious portrait of a woman who embodies them all. Far, so far from the norms to which women are often absurdly assigned.
