The Brazilian dancer-choreographer sees red in a creation steeped in hot-headed nuances and exalted feelings that focuses on cooking and philosophy, love and transmission.

In a nod to Plato’s Banquet, where only men are allowed to talk about love, the Brazilian choreographer-dancer invites two exceptional women to celebrate their heritage, resistance and sisterhood: Mylia Mary, her paternal aunt, a former passista in samba schools who is now a revered cook, and the philosopher Maria Fernanda Novo. In this wonderfully tender dance performance, they cook coxinhas, traditional fried croquettes, look after each other and keep at bay the violence that weighs on our present and our future. This suffering world can be healed with care, rhythm and joy, says Ana Pi. Art and courage are the compass, and radical beauty, the desirable horizon.
