Dino Brandão’s wonderfully colourful universe reflects the multiplicity of his pop identities, between tender bossa nova, bouncy hip-hop and dub reggae.

Swiss phenomenon, Dino Brandão spreads out the world map of pop music to channel his reflections on life. On his skateboard, a smile on his bespectacled face, with his moustache and Lionel Ritchie-like afro, the singer-songwriter shows us the way to joy and hope, guiding us with his Finley Quaye-like voice towards sunny and melancholy horizons. A Swiss artist of Angolan origin, he brings together his rich influences to create what he calls ‘Afro Psych’, a deliciously exotic form of psychedelic pop, tinged with hip-hop, bossa nova, folk and jazz. Former leader of the band Frank Powers and percussionist for Sophie Hunger, Brandão now maps his emotions according to the continents he sets foot on.
